What does datte mean in japanese?

As Javista said, "datte..." is almost "Because!!" used by kids.
It's an informal expression and sounds making an excuse.
or, when you want to say "I can't/couldn't help it..." --> "datte..., shouga nai yo/shouga nakattanda mon"
