If you fly westward from Los Angeles to Tokyo you will need to adjust your calendar watch for the proper day a?

Question:

Answer:

California (Pacific Standard Time: PST) is 17 hours behind the Japan Standard Time: JST. During the Daylight Saving Time (DST), PST is 16 hours behind the JST.

So, "adjust the watch for the proper day" is not necessarily correct.
During the DST in California (from the 1st Sunday of April to the last Sunday of October), PST and JST share the same day for 8 hours. JST has no DST.
Understand?

Just in case you have a hard time to understand this, all you need to know is:
1) In the summer, LA time is 16 hours behind Japan Time.
2) In the winter, LA time is 17 hours behind Japan Time.
