Can I visit Japan with a criminal record?

Question:

I got a felony 6 years ago when I was 18 years old for possession of narcotics with intent for sale. I never got in trouble with the law again and am no longer on probation.

Will Japan allow me to visit?

Answer:

All I will say is that there are a lot of people in your situation who visit Japan simply by answering 'NO' to the question relevant to criminal convictions. Not saying it is a good thing to do, but it is more or less impossible for immigration to check each and every tourist's criminal record in their home country.
