Can Japanese men marry foreigners?

Question:

I've heard from someone that if any Japanese man marry foreigners then they will loose their citizenship. Is this true? Please explain. Thankyou.

Answer:

No! It's not true. If they get married nothing changes. The woman can now apply for a spouse visa as opposed to a different type. If a Japanese man and a foreign woman have a child. The child is Japanese.

The only thing that might hold back a Japanese man from marrying a foreign woman is:

a) he is the eldest son and must stay close to his family home to care for his parents
b) he isn't interested in non-Japanese women
c) his family is against him marrying a foreign woman for any reason
