Should I give up my Japanese nationality and get a EU passport?

Question:

I live in Europe (and will probably never live in Japan), so that makes sense, but.......

Giving up the Japanese passport (nationality) for good is hard.

Answer:

Japan doesn't officially allow multiple citizenship, but . . . if you don't blab about your EU citizenship, you probably will get away with it. I know a lot of kids who grew up in Japan who have dual citizenship . . . even as full-fledged adults. "Don't ask, don't tell." And use your Japanese passport when entering and leaving Japan. You'll probably be fine, and if they catch you, use the "gee . . . I was supposed to choose?" excuse. What can they do? Take away your passport? LOL!
