What are the expected health effects outside Japan, considering Fukushima?

Question:

More importantly, what is the best source to follow this news, since there are too many extreme postive and negative outlooks as well.

Answer:

Almost none...now, ask the same question for the nuclear plant in NM, or the one along the banks of the Missouri River in NE that is likely to be inundated with flood water in the next few weeks.

Of course, the local problem is immense, but the significance for areas outside of Japan are negligible.

EDIT: Last time I checked, you guys are West of us...and the prevailing winds carry any stuff to the East. Long term effects outside of the immediate area in JP? Minimal. Compare it to the Pacific Island H-Bomb tests in Eniwetok...far dirtier. Yes, some people died, but the hype was bigger than the event. BTW, look at Hiroshima...there are buildings right up next to the Memorial, the epicenter of the blast. There is risk in life...deal with it.

BTW, I have also lived in Seoul...and I was far more concerned about the folks 31 miles north of us in Seoul than I was about nukes.
