In Japan what was the heighest wave?

Question:

Answer:

I'm not sure about the wave height, it's not officially announced yet.
No official announcements because it far exceeded above the tidemeter's upper limit of 14m (46 ft.)

Observed highest seawater runup point is 37.9m (124 feet) this time.
It's about the height of 12 stories building.

In the history:
In 1896 Sanriku-Earthquake, it recorded 38.2m

In 1771 Ishigaki island tunami:
The estimated highest seawater runup point was 85.4 meters ( 280 feet).
It's about the height of 25 stories building. WOW.

You should remember that the wave height is different from the seawater run-up height.
