What does this Japanese word mean?

Question:

I looked everywhere and couldn't find it! The word is 見果てぬ, and the romaji is 'mihatenu.'
It was used in 'Shoujo wa utau, mihatenu mirai wo mamoru tame ni...' if that helps.

Answer:

unfinished, unfulfilled, impossible

見果てぬ将来 "the future that won't come/ the future I cannot reach" (impossible future)
見果てぬ夢 ”The Impossible Dream”(from "Man of La Mancha - I, Don Quixote")

-------------
果てる come to the end
