Well it depends on his qualifications.
1. Does he have a bachelor's degree?
>No bachelors degree, odds are no job because they can't sponsor him a working type visa.
2. Does he speak Japanese?
>Helps somewhat.
3. What are his job skills, work experience, what did he do in Hong Kong?
>Experience in a field helps.
4. What will you be doing in Tokyo?
5. Since you cannot just move to Japan and start working it is quite difficult to say what job he can find. There is no visa to just work in a cafe or restaurant.
