Send a cashier's check from Japan to the US?

Question:

I need to pay some student loans back in the US. It's costs a lot for me to transfer money, so my bank suggested I look into sending a cashier's check from my bank in Japan. I don't speak a lot of Japanese so I was wondering if anyone has done this before and could help me out, thanks!

Answer:

If "your bank" is an American bank, they don't know that we do not use check in Japan. Only corporations use checks. But not individuals. So it's difficult.

You can use Western Union or something to send money.
