Japan vacation question?

Question:

my self and sevral friends (all togeather 5 ppl) are looking to go to japan mid 2012. (if the free air promotion gos through) and were trying to figure out how much we will need to have aside for food and place to sleep on avrage. (most likly will be staying in or around the tokyo area)

we are not looking for a exact number just a rough estimate on totals so we can see if we can swing it since no one can say exact cost of food. (we know there be other costs like travel on subways, buss etc and atraction fees and anything else we want to spend money on)

Answer:

I think 1000-2000 yen is enough per person per day as transportation. Others depend on how much you would spend for shopping and which destination you will visit.
