The best way is learn Hiragana followed by Katakana and then Kanji.
I recommend a book called An Introduction to Modern Japanese by Osamu Mizutani & Nobuko Mizutani. After studying this book you will be able to read all of the hiragana and katakana, recognise a lot of basic words in kanji, and have a good knowledge of grammar.
