I'm thinking about going to Japan for a school year as an exchange student (i'm from the u.s.) and I was just wondering what should I expect? Customs, school, etc.

1. too many people living in urban areas
2. too much competition among high school students (for prestigious universities)
3. too many boring TV programs (especially, so-called variety shows)
4. too many variety of foods to try and appreciate in a year
5. too many nice people who will kindly help you and too many bad-mannered, spoiled kids on the street at the same time.
