Which one is better for foreigner who likes Japanese tradition? Edo Tokyo Museum or Tokyo National Museum?

Question:

Answer:

Yes, Edo-Tokyo Museum is like a theme park focusing on Edo period. In addition to artistic works, they display a large number of daily products and items that are actually used in the Edo period. It's really fun to be there; you can "feel" the ordinary people's life styles in those days. Their exhibits change every few months according to the themes that they focus on. So, Edo period fans (yes, there are a large number of "Edo period fans" in Japan) repeatedly visit there every time new exhibitions are held. I have been there four times, and maybe more in the near future.

Tokyo National Museum is a very prestigious museum in Japan. Their collections of art works of ancient and medieval period of Japan is just astonishing. In addition to Japanese arts, many valuable Chinese arts are also exhibited. It is worth to visit at least once.
