Japanese Sword Company?

Question:

I was reading a story and found out that there is still a traditional japanese katana sword company that makes Katanas exactly like they used to and I was wondering how much they cost on average, because there's too many websites on google and I can't read japanese.

Answer:

Most of them are independent artists.
Yes, they make swords exactly the same way as the swordsmiths in the samurai periods.
But they do not make swords for particular individuals but mainly for the preservation of their artistic skills and its Japanese tradition, which is administered by Japan Swordsmith Association.
In order to maintain the quality of swords nationwide, the number of newly crafted swords are controlled by the association year by year.
Not to mention, they are doing business through the association by selling them on the market. Price varies, depending on the "name" (or the established reputations) of each swordsmith. The average price for a newly crafted katana is around one million yen (approx 13,000 USD).
