Best Supermarkets in Tokyo?

Question:

I'm looking for a large supermarket as close to central Tokyo as possible. My hotel is located at Nakameguro station so i'm not staying right in the central of Tokyo. I need a supermarket selling Japanese produce so I can take some back home to England such as sweets, wagashi, mirin and other japanese foods that are hard to find in england. We would also like to experience a japanese supermarket and see all the different cool stuff on offer. Could you tell me any large good ones selling japanese foods near central Tokyo?-and their nearest station. THNX

Answer:

I don't think there are any "best" markets in Japan, just go to your local market in the neighborhood you are staying in. You should be able to find most of the stuff you are looking for.

On the west side of Nakameguro station there is a "LIFE" supermarket. That supermarket should contain pretty much most of the items you'll need like mirin and snacks etc.

If you are looking for good wagashi, check out the basement food stores found at major department stores.
