I'm thinking of spending New Years in Kyushu. What suggestions do you have on what to do/see there? I am outdoorsy, like hiking, photography. I am ok with cities, but they are not my favorite. Please don't suggest temples- I am allergic to incense :(

Fukuoka is one of my favorite Japanese cities. You can always go to Nagasaki as well to visit their peace memorial.
