What does mew mean in tokyo mew mew?

Question:

I think mew is another form of saying meow? But I don't know because when they say "mew mew mint" or "mew mew lettuce" or power of "mew ichigo" it can't be "meow meow mint" or "meow ichigo" can somebody explain this to me properly please? ;__;

Answer:

It is a form of meow. It's what the Japanese found the equivalent of "nyaa" or "nyan" to be. It's more common to stick cat sounds in strange places in moe culture related things, like magical girl anime.
