Where best to stay in Tokyo?

Question:

so i will be staying in Tokyo for 3 days and will travel during those days. I tried looking for cheap inn/hostel but at the same time is near a station. I originally preferred Toyoko Inn which is near the Shinjuku station which, I think, is a very convenient station. However, I found another one in Ikebukuro which is also near the station but offers dormitory prices so it's waaayyy cheaper than the one in Shinjuku. I found one in Asakusa too but I think Asakusa station is not that convenient...
