Questions about Japanese schools?

Question:

I have some questions and requests about Japan (schools).
Please answer as many as you can. Your answers are much appreciated. :D

-Why are most japanese high schools big?
-How big (generally) is a typical public and private school in japan?
-What do japanese school look inside and outside?
-Where are schools typically located? (Near residential areas, urban areas, or etc.?)
-What usually surrounds most schools? (Houses, buildings, trees or etc.?)

-Can you please give me pictures or sites wherein I could see what japanese school looks like inside and out?
-Can you give an overview map for japanese high schools?

Extra question: Why are there so many trees in Japan?

Please help. Thank you! :)

Answer:

according to Wiki, there are 446 high schools in Tokyo, both private and public. and over 5000 schools in Japan.

http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9D%B1%E…

(this is in tokyo)
i know it is in Japanese, but its easy to figure out...
you can click on some of the school to see pictures of the buildings.

http://www.schoolnavi-jp.com/sh/sh-index…

you can see on this site about schools in each prefecture.
when you click on each school, it will take you to the school's official homepage where you can see some pictures.

schools will be located mostly residential area, because public school students normally ride bikes to school. surroundings may vary, if you are in urban area, buildings and houses may be around more than countrysides where there are less population and houses.

the reason why Japan has many trees: because we are team "GO GREEN." :)

hope it helped you to find your answer~.
