Desu and imasu?????....confusion, kind of......?

Question:

atsui desu right, and i know you can't say atsui imasu or iru right,.... but you can say yuubinkyouku wa asoko ni imasu and you can also say yuubinkyouku wa asoko desu....right?

Does it matter when you are using desu and imasu/arimasu, what are the specifications when i can use desu when i cant use imasu/arimasu and when i can use imasu/arimasu and not use desu?

Answer:

Aru/arimasu and iru/imasu both means "is (be)" in the sense of "exist". Aru/arimasu is used for living things while iru/imasu are used for non-living objects.

Desu, on the other hand, does not mean anything by itself; it just makes the sentence polite.

So, in your example, you cannot say "yuubinkyouku wa asoko ni imasu." It should be either "asoko ni arimasu" or "asoko desu".
