Whats the difference between 「状態」と「状況」?

Question:

Do they both exactly mean ”circumstances” or is there a difference?

Also between all these words that seem to mean "empty." Is there a difference between them all in meaning?

空ろな
空いている
空の
虚ろな
開いている
空になる

Answer:

空ろな= a vacant tree, a vacant mind, He looked blank.
空いている=a vacant room or seat.
空の= an empty box (karano hako),
虚ろな=same as 空ろな
開いている= an open window, the store is open.
空になる= (karaninaru)= become empty like in "after guests were gone and all rooms are vacant".
