Distinguish Japanese names from words?

Question:

How can I tell whether the Japanese set of Kanji is a name or a word? Ex. 林原 means forest original (or original forest if red backwards). But it should be Hayashibara.

Answer:

Names are often using kanji which is used only for names.

For example, 佐藤 is a set of kanji used only for names. So if you have learned these one by one, you will see which one is a name and which one is not.

There is no Japanese word like 林原 other than names. So we would see that it's a name.
