Kanji, Hiragana, or Katakana? Which first?

Question:

After reading references to the Katakana, Kanji, and Hiragana (please excuse my spelling) scripts (or alphabets), which of these should a beginner to learning Japanese know first? Is there an order in which it is advisable to start with, and then end on? I would like to learn Japanese on a basic level at least, if not advanced. My main reason for learning the language is so that it helps me to learn more about Japan's fascinating culture and history.

Answer:

At most schools you learn Hiragana followed by Katakana and then Kanji.
