I am planning to study in Yatsuya, Tokyo. I will hopefully be doing a home-stay and my meals and such will be included. But, for the weekend trips, getting meals at school and buying a whole bunch of souvenirs. I feel like the first 2 weeks I'll spend the most money. I planned out $1,500 or 120,000 yen. Is that not enough, you think?

Actually you don't have to play these guessing games about carrying enough money with you. You can carry some with you, but leave the rest in your bank account at home and access what you want through your ATM card. You can get a very good exchange rate and get yen with your card from any Japanese post office.
