How old do you have to be to fly over to Japan from America?

Question:

I'm looking into the culture of Japan and would like to do so without my parents being there with me and constricting my learning. I am 16

Answer:

Your parents constrict your learning? Good one.

Why not just convince them to let you get a passport and then give their approval to airlines for you to fly alone? The fact that you are supposed to be 18 to rent a hotel room here, well, they don't always enforce that. Though if they do that would REALLY constrict your learning.

Talk to your parents.
