What is expensive about Japan?

Question:

Like is food expensive, and what part of Japan is affordable.
would love to live over there.
and how much would a small studio be a month?

Answer:

Everything costs, and costs like the dickens. "Expensive" is a word too kind for the inflated economy here in Japan. What the other responders reported to you in answer to your inquiry is true. There are one room apartments that are available, but they rent out for like 50,000yen+++ more a month. That translates to $400 to $500+++ per month. And you have to pay key money. The amount for this obscenity amounts 2 to 3+++ months rent. Possibly more, it's a case by case scam. Also, your newly acquired rented home comes with NOTHING. Not even a light bulb. This I swear to God I am not making up. No heater, refrigerator, no oven. When you move in you have to get all these things by yourself.
Food. too, costs. My wife is always on the hunt for bargain sales. (Yeah, I'm writing to you from Japan). You might make a go of it food wise if you're a clever shopper.
Tokyo is an exciting place for a young person. Everything is happening in that city. But talk about crowded. You won't believe the human crush if you ever manage to get here. I don't live in Tokyo. Very far away from that city, in fact. And we do not plan to even visit that ant colony anytime in the near future.
