Can anyone tell me a brief summary about the radiation leak going on in Japan?

Question:

Answer:

Earthquake occurred right offshore of Sendai, Japan (northeast japan)

The earthquake caused a tsunami which took the power offline from the nuclear cooling systems.

The reactors overheated and exploded a little bit.

Japanese emergency crews and nuclear engineers have been attempting to cool down the reactors with seawater until they get the power running to the cooling systems again.

Some of the nuclear fuel has been exposed to the outside air causing a leak of radiation.

It could take weeks or even months before the leak can be fully suppressed.
