I had a trip planned out and my flight was this week.
With the current situation in Japan out embassy said it is best to postpone.
Does anyone have any clue how long will it take?

It depends on where in Japan.
Around Fukushima plant: not safe for years.
Around Tokyo: some turmoil but safe
Western Japan: no problem at all
