Can you buy a Japanese kimono (party) for 65.000 yen?

Question:

Answer:

FRANKLY~~I THINK U COULD....
However, I'm no authority on this...unless, I get to talk to my Jap. GF....:)
Mind U...I remember her telling me that that 2nd-hand ones are already good !!!

Try looking at this site & see the Chinese-made Kimonos....
http://asianideas.com/kimonorobes.html

Meanwhile....READ (below) & CHECK IT OUT ~~~

There are lots & lots of places to buy nice, second-hand kimono,
(both in Japan and on the internet.....)
In Japan, if you're going to be in Nagoya, head out to the Uso Kannon shrine.
I tell U....There's a rather long street nearby that's nothing but second-hand clothing, including....
2nd-hand kimono & kimono accessories.

IF...In Kyoto, there's a little shop called Mimuro that sells brand-new kimono.
Those are a lot more expensive than second-hand, but my GF was able to get a full furisode set there
for $700 when they had a big sale during summer.
They would be worth a look, especially if there's a Sale on ~~~

They also say there's some good things at Chicago Harajuku, which is a second-hand clothing shop
on Teramachi Dori if I'm not mistaken.
My friend said that the entire second floor was KIMONOS !!!
But I haven't been there myself so I can't vouch for it myself.
There were two places in Sendai as well, but I can't say for it NOW (due to the Earthquake/Tsunami) However, U can always stop by the Tourist help offices in the cities you visit and ask where to buy kimono, they should be able to direct U to good places.
During the summer, most Japanese department stores sell yukata, and some of the larger ones sell
other kinds of kimono too, but since those are brand-new they're going to be very expensive.

CHECK THESE OUT ON THE NET:
(Hopefully, I'm helpful enough....U only owe me a coffee.....LOL....

And of course, don't forget to check eBay.
Just be careful to make sure you're not buying some cheap FAKE kimono if you want the real deal.
Try using search terms like "furisode," "houmongi," "tsukesage," "iromuji," "tomesode," and "komon" since those will bring up lots of reputable sellers
(Most of the links given above sell on eBay as well as on their own sites)
And....fewer fake kimono than just searching >>>> "kimono."
