Question:
Why do people say “nom nom“ or ゛nomu゛ when they eat? if they are going by japanese, isnt nomu for drinking? and like how people say “hai“ for hi, i dont understand. Or when people put japan as their country and never been there...is this a otaku? Some one please explain..

hai for "hi" isn't a reference to the Japanese word for yes - some may use it thinking they're being all cool and Japanese but they're just being noobs.
usually hai is used to sound cuter and less mundane than hi.
Sometimes people use hai to answer the calling of their name, not as in "hi" but as in "yes?"
Otaku is the japanese word for "nerd" essentially. There are all different forms of otaku. Like a Justin Bieber otaku or an anime otaku.
In North America people refer to themselves as Otaku if they are fans of anime - they're not classified as otaku for saying "om nom nom" or "hai", but for liking Japanese animation in general.
