Are Japan's Nuclear Catastrophic Nuclear Plants something To Be CONCERNED ABOUT?

Question:

ACCORDING to different sources of news such as BBC, RT News...etc...The generators that escalated or made the nuclear situations WORSE for reactor (1,2,3,4 AND 5) are supposedly MADE IN USA by GE (General Electric Company). Should General Electric Company (GE) be HELD RESPONSIBLE? What about the over 100 operating nuclear power plants in AMERICA? I know, this is a NIGHTMARE. ACCORDING to CNN, the radiation levels have far EXCEEDED the minimum ALLOWED...In fact, Right now its at level 5. REMEMBER in Chernobyl, how the radiation was ABSORBED by the grass, then the cows ATE the grass, FINALLY the humans CONSUMED or ATE the grass. That's exactly what happens, it is much of a cause and effect chain..as anybody would know from biology class. Something to THINK about. Let the truth set you free. Action needs to be TAKEN regarding the safety and production of nuclear plants in US, food distributed FROM JAPAN; in other words, CHANGE needs to take place on a local and regional level regarding our nuclear plants. Once again, something to think about. Its your life, your health, your family's...right? What affects them (Japanese People) effects all of us. Right?

Answer:

MUST you CAPITALIZE every other WORD? First off- General Electric should not be held responsible. It's not that they built these reactors wrong, it's that everyone involved- including the Japanese government, the scientists, etc did not prepare for a disaster of this scale. Also testing for these things is almost imposible because we are dealing with radiation and no one can get close to it. So scientists aren't even sure what would happen if they stopped pouring water in. Some scientists guess that nothing would happen and it would stop emitting radiation and others say that it will blow. No one is sure because unlike other things they can't just test it in a lab to find out! No one can get close enough to test these things so it's all done on speculation.

I do agree that America needs to stop pushing nuclear energy unto nations that are prone to natural disaster, but Japan doesn't really have much choice in the matter because they get all their supplies imported to them- including petrol. Because of this they need nuclear power in order to stay successful. There's really no other option for them.
