Would Japan help us if we had a tsunami?

Question:

I was wondering.. The US and it's people are donating a lot of money and are offering help to those affected by the tsunami. Even Apple is giving it's employees or if there family was effected money, and there are donation sites here and everything would Japan do the same for us?

Answer:

We Japanese appreciate your help and concern about us.
But if you brag about it, that hurts the feelings and pride of the tsunami victims.
The Japanese get furious when they face presumptuous, arrogant and insensitive people especially when they are in a great trouble like this.
You should be more sensitive about their sorrow and grief and be more polite when you offer help to people in overseas.
Not to mention, we will do our best to help you when you are in trouble. But we never brag about it or expect something in return. We will never ask this kind of question to anybody.
